Howard and Johanna P. will be sponsoring the Kiddush to celebrate the recent wedding of their daughter Shirah R. to Joseph P. in Safed, Israel.  Everyone is invited.

Fern (Ester) C. will sponsor a Kiddush in celebration of her birthday and Barbara C.'s birthday!  Please join us!

 

Tisha B'Av

Tuesday, August 9 marks Tisha b’Av, (the ninth of Av), the day on which both temples were destroyed and many other calamities befell the Jewish people.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday August 8 @ 8:30pm, when we will read the scroll of Eicha, written by the prophet Jeremiah describing the fall of Jerusalem.

 

Send Your Holiday Bulletin Greetings

Members and friends will again be able to place a Holiday greeting in the upcoming Beth Isaiah Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur bulletin.  The cost of the greeting is $40 and this amount will be added to your annual dues billing.

If you placed a greeting last year and there are no changes, please indicate that you want the same greeting to go in for this year.  If you want any changes, please indicate what they are and

those changes will be made.

Sample Greetings usually take the form of:

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year from (your name)

or

L'Shana Tova to all from (your name)

or

Good health and happiness in the New Year from (your name)

Send your info. to classroomproject@guelphsynagogue.ca as soon as possible to ensure your greeting makes it into the Bulletin

 

Send Your Holiday Bulletin Literary Contributions

Would you like to share a poem, short story, or any other literary work with the community in our Holiday Bulletin?  If so, please send your piece to jbavington@mi.ca in Word format.  We will endeavour to include as many pieces as possible in the available space.  Our Bulletin Editor will have final say over which pieces are included.

Faith Column in the Guelph Mercury

Guelph MercuryCantor Avraham Fisher and Howard P. have donated the money received from the Jewish Faith articles written for the Guelph Mercury to the Kiddush Fund. Their next column is scheduled to run this Saturday, Aug. 6.

African Famine Relief Fund

In the Jewish Faith column running this Saturday in the Guelph Mercury, Cantor Avraham Fisher appeals to the community to contribute money to provide relief for the starving people in Africa.  United Israel Appeal has set up a means of contributing.
