Richard Youngman Memorial Lecture is proud to present Reverend Majed El Shafie - Founder: OneFreeWorld International (onefreeworldinternational.org)
Join us for a fascinating story of the struggle
for human rights and religious freedom in the Middle East.
Born in Cairo, Egypt into a prominent Muslim family of lawyers Majed chose to become a lawyer and a Christian. He began a mission to bring the Christian community all of the same legal rights as the Muslim community in Egypt. For his efforts, the Egyptian government arrested Majed and he was taken to the torture section of the Abu Zaabel prison in Cairo. During his time in prison, Majed underwent severe torture. Through the intervention of Amnesty International and the United Nations, Majed was released from prison and became a free man in Jerusalem, Israel. Since then he has relocated to Toronto, where he has actively started his own ministry and is now the President and Founder of One Free World International. (OFWI) is an international human rights organization based in Toronto, Canada, that focuses on the rights of religious minorities around the world and promotes tolerance, understanding and respect for diverse religious beliefs.
Refreshments will be served following the lecture. Don’t miss this fascinating & enlightening programme.
