Beth Isaiah Movie Club

June 28, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join Our Movie Club

In honour of this year’s Toronto Jewish Film Festival (https://tjff.com), which will run online May 30 – June 7 and then offer movies free online at the website J-Flix.com, our Adult Education Programs Committee will host a special film discussion group on Sunday, June 28 at 3 p.m. The format will be like a book club. Simply watch the 28-minute movie beforehand and show up on Zoom ready to discuss it for an hour. Our conversation will be facilitated by Lauren Stein.

The 28-minute film, “Blue Like Me: The Art of Siona Benjamin,” is a beautiful documentary that you may want to watch more than once. Please watch it in advance.

Blue Like Me: The Art of Siona Benjamin  28 min

Capturing the transfixing artwork of Indian-Jewish Siona Benjamin, this film is resplendent with jaw-dropping imagery painted in a riot of colour. Born in Mumbai to a Jewish family, Benjamin synthesizes her Jewish roots with Hindu, Catholic, Muslim and Zoroastrian iconography of India. In blending these disparate sources, she produces something wholly original and utterly mesmerizing. A visually stunning portrait of this Indian-American artist.

So please join us on Zoom on Sunday, June 28 at 3 pm.
